Breakdancing
Students will be introduced to the classic art form of B-girl and B-boy culture and movement from NYC. The history and legacy of breakdancing will come alive and be activated through stretching, step by step learning of each move, technique, sharing classic footage of breaking legends, and high energy routines that will lead to performances on and off line! Students will also be introduced to the world of breakbeat music and rhythms that have moved the culture of breaking since the beginning!
Safahri Ra Hendrix is a hip hop educator, emcee, after school program director, Katrina survivor who over the past 20 years has built a career by teaching, facilitating workshops with teachers, consulting with schools, innovating after school programs, supporting principals, creating summer camps, presenting, performing & touring internationally in schools, coaching young artists, and eventually starting his own Hip Hop company Pangea.
